SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: stromata absent. Ascomata perithecia, 180-320 µm diam, globose to pyriform, either non-ostiolate or with a small papillate ostiole, black, with appendages arranged in a whorl around the apex, to 800 µm long and 4-6 µm diam. at the base, sometimes geniculate, the apices not circinate. Peridium fairly thick and leathery, composed of 3-4 layers of flattened brown thick-walled angular cells. Interascal tissue absent. Asci formed from a basal fascicle, 20-28 x 14-20 µm, obovoid to broadly clavate, thin-walled, without apical structures, evanescent, 8-spored. Ascospores 8-12 x 6-7.5 µm, fusiform to ellipsoidal, fairly thick-walled, at first hyaline and dextrinoid (staining brown in iodine), becoming pale straw-coloured, aseptate, smooth, with a distinct germ pore at either end, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
