SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: stromata absent. Ascomata thyriothecia, 100-160 µm diam., 40-60 µm high, in clusters of up to 20-30, very shallowly conical to discoid, shining black, the margin entire. Upper wall one cell thick, composed of radially arranged reddish brown to dark brown quadrangular cells 4-6 x 3-5 µm in size, ostiolate. Ostiole central, raised, surrounded by a collar 2-3 cells high, composed of small cells with dark brown, thickened lateral walls, bearing a crown of convergent setae forming a cone over the ostiole. Lower wall of similar construction to the upper wall, pale brown to almost hyaline. Setae (15-) 18-34 x 3.5-5 µm, convergent, subulate, dark reddish brown, thick-walled, aseptate, smooth. Asci 36-50 x 9-12 µm, ovoid to cylindric-clavate, thick-walled and fissitunicate, with a distinct ocular chamber, not staining in iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, (12-) 16-20 x 3.5-4.5 µm, cylindric-ellipsoidal, with a single median septum, hyaline, smooth, lacking setulae.
