SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata thyriothecia, 50-70 µm diam., superficial, dark brown to black, scattered. Upper wall composed of red-brown to pale brown ± quadrangular cells arranged in radiating rows, cells 3-4 µm diam.; basal plate pale fuscous brown, at first of elongated forked radiating cells with almost no transverse walls; ostiolar collar 15-20 µm diam., the limiting cells thick-walled, dark red-brown, angular to rounded, mainly 5-6 µm diam., ostiolar pore 10-15 µm wide, ascomata rarely 2-pored; ostiolar setae 3-6 per ostiole, spinose, 12-35 µm long, swollen to about 6 µm at the base but tapering gradually to 1.5-2 µm diam. at the tip, deep red-brown, unbranched, smooth-walled. Interascal tissue absent. Asci 25-35 x 9-11 µm, broadly clavate, thick-walled and fissitunicate, the apex strongly thickened, internal apical beak broad and shallow, not reacting with iodine, 4-spored. Ascospores biseriately arranged, (13.5-) 15-21 x (3-) 4-5 µm, ellipsoidal to narrowly ellipsoidal, rounded at the apices, 1-septate, guttulate, hyaline, smooth-walled, not or slightly constricted at the septum, no cilia seen to arise from the septa.
