SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: stromata absent. Ascomata perithecia, 280-350 µm diam., ± globose, black, fully immersed within the host thallus and only visible through cracks when the thallus is fully hydrated. Ascomatal wall composed of several layers of strongly melanized and often ± occluded thin-walled angular flattened cells. Interascal tissue not seen, perhaps becoming evanescent before the asci mature. Asci 75-80 x 33-40 μm, ± cylindrical with rounded apices when immature but becoming broadly clavate, thin-walled and not fissitunicate, with a short tapered stipe, the apex broadly obtuse, apical structures not seen, not blueing in iodine, (6-) 8-spored. Ascospores 23.5-26 (-28.5) x 11-12.5 μm, ± fusiform when immature, broadly cylindric-ellipsoidal when mature, hyaline, strongly constricted at the ± median septum, the ends rounded, the base sometimes slightly more obtuse, thin-walled, smooth, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
