Anamorph: not known. Teleomorph: stromata absent. Ascomata immersed to partially erumpent, sometimes becoming superficial, solitary or in groups. Body 350–400 μm diam. and 350–450 μm high, globose to subglobose, dark brown to black, covered by sparse dark brown to reddish brown septate hairs. Neck central, rather variable in length, 80–110 μm diam., to 450 (-800) μm long, cylindrical, upright, straight or slightly flexuous, glabrous, hardly tapering, the apex sometimes sulcate. Ostiole periphysate. Ascomatal wall leathery, with an outer layer consisting of thick-walled angular brown polyhedral cells, and an inner layer of thin-walled hyaline flattened cells. Paraphyses abundant, longer than the asci, deliquescing with age, septate, constricted at the septa, 5–9 μm diam. near the base, tapering to ca 3.5 μm. Asci 59–65 × 6–7.2 μm, cylindrical to cylindric-clavate, short-stalked, the apex rounded to truncate, thin-walled, not fissitunicate, with a refractive apical ring ca 2.5 µm diam. and 1.5 µm thick, usually 8-spored. Ascospores 7.9-8.7 x 3.5-4 µm [8.5–9.5 (–10.5) × 4–4.5 μm fide Réblová et al. 2018], ellipsoidal to cylindric-ellipsoidal, 1- to 2- (rarely 3-) septate, the first-formed septum in the middle or slightly below or above the middle, hyaline, longitudinally striate, without a gelatinous sheath.
