Lentomitella cirrhosa sensu Munk
Nomenclature
-
Family: XenospadicoidaceaeGenus: Lentomitella
SUMMARY
Stroma absent, though ascomata may be closely aggregated.
Ascomata 300-400µm diam, ± globose, the neck papillate to elongated, black. Peridium thick, composed of a number of layers of dark brown textura angularis, the inner layers paler. Interascal tissue not clearly seen; presumably evanescent. Asci 122-145 x 5-6µm, cylindrical, very long-stalked (to ca 40µm), with an inconspicuous apical ring ca 2µm diam and 0.5µm thick, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged uniseriately, (8-)9.5-11.5 x 3-4µm, cylindric-ellipsoidal, rarely ellipsoidal, thin-walled, hyaline, aseptate, usually with two large guttules, without a gelatinous sheath.
Anamorph: unknown.
The identify of this taxon is uncertain, it is not conspecific with Ceratostomella cirrhosa in its original sense (see Réblová, 2006) and was recognized as separate by Munk (1957) but not given a valid name. It may also not be congeneric with Lentomitella.
