SUMMARY
Mycelium: hyphae superficial, brown, septate, smooth, 2–3 (–4) µm diam., abundant.
Anamorph: unknown.
Teleomorph: ascomata thyriothecia, 200–350 × 100–200 µm, elliptical to somewhat elongate in outline, sometimes bifurcate. Upper wall composed of dark brown epidermoid cells 3–6 × 3–5 µm in size, opening with an elongate split. Lower wall not clearly developed. Interascal tissue sparse or absent. Asci 24–44 × 21–32 µm, subglobose to broadly ellipsoidal, initially very thick-walled with a broad ocular chamber, quite thin-walled when fully mature, 8-spored. Ascospores 17–24 × 7–12 µm, broadly ellipsoidal to somewhat obovoid, the apex rounded and the base obtuse, strongly constricted at the slightly submedian septum, hyaline and fairly thin-walled at first, becoming pale brown and minutely verruculose, without an epispore or gelatinous sheath.
