SUMMARY
Thallus areolate, dispersed or forming a continuous crust, areoles flattened with somewhat irregular margins, pale yellow-green, surface ± smooth. Prothallus inconspicuous.
Anamorph: no information available.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, 0.2-0.6 mm diam., dispersed to compacted, arising on single areoles, at first immersed but becoming almost sessile. Thalline exciple visible only when young, soon excluded. Disc concave or more commonly convex to undulate, often convoluted, pink-brown. Epithecium ± colourless, sparsely interspersed with brown granules. Hymenium 55-65 μm tall. Interascal tissue of paraphyses 1-2 μm diam., branched and anastomosed, apices not thickened. Ascospores 10-14 (-15) × 4-5 μm, narrowly ellipsoidal.
Chemistry: thallus C–, K+ weakly yellow, KC+ yellow, Pd–, UV+ dull orange (atranorin, gangaleoidin, zeorin, α-collatolic and usnic acids).
