Family: LentitheciaceaeGenus: Keissleriella
Species:
Keissleriella gallica
SUMMARY
Not correctly reported from the British Isles. Dennis (1964) published notes on a saprobe of Rumex acetosa from Rhum that was identified as K. gallica by himself and Emil Müller, though they recognized that the ascospores were narrower than those of the type. The species was originally described as a parasite of Spartium junceum with an Ascochyta anamorph, so it seems unlikely that the Hebridean material is conspecific with the type. Re-examination of Dennis's material suggests that this collection is of Lentithecium lineare, and another collection from Lancashire in K identified as K. gallica reveals a fungus with elongate ostioles similar or identical to Lophiotrema vagabundum.
