Anamorph: Pyrenochaeta-like. Conidiomata pycnidia, 180-220 µm diam., ± globose, black, thin-walled, immersed in the substratum, the ostiole minutely papillate, lacking setae. Peridium composed of several layers of thick-walled dark brown angular cells to 10 µm diam., and an inner layer of thin-walled hyaline angular cells 3-5 µm diam. from which the conidiophores develop. Conidiophores 12-22 x 2.5-3 µm, cylindrical or slightly tapering, thin-walled, 1- to 3-septate, the conidia formed terminally and laterally immediately below septa, the loci proliferating percurrently with minute periclinal thickening and no collarette. Conidia 3-3.8 x ca 2 µm, bacillar, hyaline, aseptate, smooth- and thin-walled, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages. Teleomorph: Ascostromata perithecial, 250-300 µm diam., globose, black, thin-walled, immersed in the substratum, the ostiole minutely papillate and surrounded by irregular dark brown thick-walled setae to 35 µm in length and 4-5 µm diam. Peridium 15-20 µm thick, composed of 5-6 layers of dark brown irregular thick-walled angular cells, the inner layers less strongly pigmented. Interascal tissue composed of copious thin-walled cellular pseudoparaphyses ca 2 µm diam. Asci 50-72 x 7-9 µm, narrowly clavate with a tapering stalk, the apex rounded, thick-walled and fissitunicate with a well-developed ocular chamber, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately or obliquely uniseriately, 11.5-15.5 x 3.5-5 µm, clavate-fusiform, the ends obtuse, strongly constricted at the slightly submedian septum with the upper cell slightly broader and sometimes with a secondary septum, hyaline, thin-walled, when immature with a thin gelatinous sheath ca 1 µm thick.
