Similar externally to Jattaea microtheca but with ascomata that are more deeply immersed and with slightly longer necks, shorter asci (15-19 x 4-5 μm) with shorter stalks and thicker-walled apices, and smaller ascospores (3.5-4 x 1-1.5 μm).
