SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, 150-250 μm diam, ± globose, with a short elongate-papillate slightly tapered periphysate neck to 250 μm in length, solitary or aggregated in irregular groups, superficial or half-immersed, black, covered, glabrous in GB&I material. Ascomatal wall leathery, 30–40 μm thick, with an outer layer of brown angular cells and an inner layer of ± hyaline flattened cells. Interascal tissue of copious persistent unbranched tapering thin-walled paraphyses 2.5-3 μm diam near the base, much longer than the asci. Asci formed from short cells on ascogenous hyphae, 23-28 x 4-5.5 μm, clavate with a tapering stalk, the apex rounded to near-truncate, thin-walled, without a distinct apical structure, eventually evanescent at the base, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately or in two fascicles near the tip of the ascus, 5.5-7 x 1-1.5 μm, slightly curved to allantoid, slightly tapering towards the apices, hyaline, aseptate, smooth- and thin-walled, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
