SUMMARY
Anamorph: conidiomata ca 500 µm diam, pycnidial, globose, black, similar to and amongst ascomata. Conidiophores absent. Conidiogenous cells enteroblastic, barrel-shaped to cylindric, determinate, discrete or integrated, hyaline, smooth, with 1-4 annellations. Conidia 130-200 x 5-7 µm, 10- to 20-septate, elongate-cylindrical, straight to slightly curved, tapering slightly towards the round-ended apices, hyaline to very pale brown, smooth.
Teleomorph: to 10 mm diam, basal, extensive, plane, black, sclerotic, smooth, erumpent appearing superficial, composed of an outer layer ca 30 µm thick of dark red-brown, thick-walled, angular cells, a second layer also ca 30 µm thick of lighter brown, fused, interwoven hyphae (appearing as irregular cells) and an interior of interwoven hyaline hyphae. Ascomata 250-500 µm diam, pseudothecioid, globose, inconspicuously stalked, papillate, black, smooth, crowded, superficial on the basal stroma. Peridium composed of a thin layer 10-15 µm thick of dark red-brown, thick-walled, angular cells at the exterior and with an interior layer of lighter brown, fused, interwoven hyphae (appearing as irregular cells). Interascal tissue of branched and anastomosed filaments, sparse. Asci 200-250 x 20-30 µm, cylindrical-clavate, thick-walled, I-, 8-spored. Ascospores 30-42 x 12-19 µm, with 5-8 transverse septa and longitudinal and oblique septa, constricted at the transverse septa, ellipsoidal to narrowly ellipsoidal, sometimes with one or both ends acute, smooth, brown.
