SUMMARY
Anamorph: Sporothrix-like. Conidiogenous cells hardly differentiated from vegetative hyphae, elongate, bearing conidia on minute lateral papillae, proliferating sympodially. Conidia 3-4 x 1-1.5µm, cylindric-ellipsoidal, sometimes slightly curved, hyaline, aseptate.
Teleomorph: Stromata absent. Ascomata 130-170µm diam, globose, appearing slightly wrinkled at moderate magnification, superficial, strongly aggregated, shining black, at first covered with a purplish hyphal layer. Peridium with cephalothecoid plates 60-80µm diam, well-defined, composed of 8-10 layers of very dark brown thick-walled radiating hyphal tissue and an outer amorphous layer. Interascal tissue absent. Asci 8-10µm diam, globose to saccate, evanescent, 8-spored. Ascospores ca 2.5 x 2µm, reniform, one face distinctly concave, hyaline or very pale brown en masse.
