SUMMARY
Mycelium pale brown, superficial, the hyphae 1-2 µm diam., thin-walled.
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, 75-90 μm diam, superficial, scattered or in small clusters, subglobose to oblate, black, covered in spiny hairs that tend to curve downwards towards the substratum. Peridial hairs 40-60 µm long, 3-4 µm diam. at the base, gradually tapering, acute to acuminate, aseptate, dark brown and thick-walled. Peridium composed of mid to dark brown thick-walled angular cells 6-8 µm diam. Interascal tissue not seen. Asci 41-48 x 10-12.5 µm, clavate, short-stalked to almost sessile, the apex rounded, thick-walled and fissitunicate with rostrate dehiscence, without apical structures, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 11.5-13.5 (-14) x 3.5-4 (-4.5) µm, ellipsoidal to fusiform-ellipsoidal, hardly constricted at the ± median septum, hyaline, thin- and smooth-walled, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
