SUMMARY
Anamorph: Dothichiza tremulae (Sacc.) Höhn. (1916). Conidiomata to 500 µm broad, pycnidial, black, immersed. Conidiophores absent. Conidiogenous cells proliferating percurrently. Conidia 4-10 x 2.5-3.5 µm, cylindrical, hyaline.
Teleomorph: stromata to 0.5 mm diam., unilocular, rounded, cushion-shaped to plane, gregarious to crowded, black, smooth, immersed becoming erumpent, composed of dark brown to blackish thick-walled angular and prismatic cells becoming darker and thicker-walled towards the outer layers. Ascomatal locule occupying the entire upper part of the stroma. Asci 80-112 x 14-32 µm, cylindrical to clavate, somewhat saccate, short-stalked, thick-walled, fissitunicate, J-, 8-spored, arising parallel to each other from the entire base of the locule or rarely on a slight basal cushion of hyaline cells. Ascospores 23-30 x 7-10 µm, ovoid to narrowly ellipsoid and often asymmetrical, hyaline, 5-6(-7) transverse septa, frequently with longitudinal septa, constricted at the primary septum, constricted at all septa when fully mature.
