SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascostromata 200-300 x 150-220 μm, oblate to subglobose with a ± flat surface, at least mostly uniloculate, opening by a small lysigenous pore, strongly gregarious, partially erumpent through the host bark; composed of vertically orientated rows of globose to prismatic cells, blackened externally, olivaceous brown inside, with hyphae penetrating the host tissues at the base. Interascal tissues not present. Asci 85-100 x 18-25 μm, cylindric-clavate to cylindric-ovoid, very short-stalked, thick-walled and fissitunicate with a broad conspicuous ocular chamber, usually 16-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 15-22 x 5-7 μm, cylindric-ellipsoidal to slightly clavate, 3- to 5-septate, rarely with occasional longitudinal or oblique septa, very strongly constricted at the median to marginally submedian primary septum, only slightly constricted at the other septa, hyaline, rather thin-walled, smooth, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
