Family: DothideaceaeGenus: Dothidea
SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: stromata 0.9-1.7 x 0.4-0.9 mm, somewhat irregular in shape but usually elliptical in outline, erumpent through the periderm, often clustered and sometimes juxtaposed, then irregular in shape but not coalescing. Surface irregular but ± flat to shallowly domed, roughened, the individual locules not domed and the ostioles not visible from the surface. Stromatal tissue composed of thick-walled, dark brown angular to globose cells 12-16 µm diam., with Munk pores ca 0.75 µm diam. visible in some side walls, the outer layer more strongly pigmented. Ascomatal locules up to ca 8 per stroma, 160-200 µm diam., in a single layer, without separate walls but lined with two or three layers of internal tissues similar to those of the stroma but less strongly pigmented. Interascal tissue not present. Asci formed in a fascicle but without a clear cushion of generative cells, 79-92 x 16-17 µm, broadly cylindrical, almost sessile, the stipe tapering gradually, the apex rounded, thick-walled and fissitunicate, with a distinct ocular chamber, not staining in iodine, 4-spored. Ascospores arranged uniseriately, 16.5-18.5 (-21) x (8-) 10.5-13 µm, ellipsoidal to broadly ovoid, the apices rounded, constricted at the submedian septum; dark brown, thick-walled, smooth or faintly verrucose, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
