SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: stromata to 1 mm diam, multilocular, circular to slightly irregular from above, surface flat to convex, black, smooth, scattered to gregarious, erumpent from beneath bark, composed of polyhedral brown-walled cells becoming rounded and darker at the exposed surface but paler and slightly compressed immediately below the locules. Ascomatal locules within the stroma, without conspicuous ostioles, to ca 100 µm diam, arranged as a single irregular layer. Interascal tissue absent. Asci 70-80 x 15-16 µm, cylindrical-clavate, ± sessile, thick-walled, with a foot-shaped base, J-, 8-spored, arising in a fascicle from a basal cushion. Ascospores 20-24 x 7-10 µm, narrowly ellipsoidal to ovoid, brown, usually finely roughened at maturity, thick-walled, 1-septate, constricted at the septum, one cell larger than the other.
