Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, 150-180 µm diam., subglobose to pyriform, immersed in the thallus and visible only as slightly raised black ostioles, scattered or in small clusters on the host thallus. Peridium olivaceous to dark brown, 10-20 µm thick at the base, thicker around the ostiole, strongly melanized in patches (mostly in the cell walls), composed of an outer layer of dark flattened cells and an inner paler layer.
