SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascostromata immersed below the host epidermis, 140-220 µm diam., ± strongly oblate and sometimes collapsing when dry, black, with a minute black ostiole that hardly penetrates the epidermis. Peridium thin-walled, composed of dark brown thick-walled angular cells 6-11 µm diam. Interascal tissue composed of cellular pseudoparaphyses, sometimes breaking down at maturity. Asci 80-110 x 7-9 µm, cylindrical, the apex rounded, thick-walled and fissitunicate, 8-spored. Ascospores 14-15.5 x 5.5-6.5 µm [15-18 x 3.5-4.5 µm fide Ellis & Ellis 1997], strongly constricted at the single ± median septum, the upper cell slightly broader, the apex obtuse to acute and the base obtuse, hyaline, fairly thick-walled, without an epispore or gelatinous sheath.
