Anamorph: Phomopsis velata (Sacc.) Höhn. (1906). Conidiomata 360 x 280 µm. Conidiogenous cells 20 x 1.5 µm. Alpha-conidia 5-7 x 2.5 µm; beta-conidia 24-27 x 1 µm.
Teleomorph: stromata with ostioles erumpent in small definite clusters through small, blackened, pustulate ectostromata, entostromatic areas widely extended, strongly differentiated, dorsal blackening absent except around the ostioles or present and dipping slightly into the bark. Ascomata scattered, crowded or often clustered, usually collectively erumpent, ostioles cylindrical. Ascospores 11-13 x 2.5-3.5 µm.
Wehmeyer condsidered this to belong within the D. eres aggregate.
