SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: Stromata well-delimited, appearing on the surface as irregular, slightly swollen and heavily blackened areas 10-35 x 4-15 mm in size, sometimes confluent, with scattered conical to shortly cylindrical ostioles, delimited within the substratum with a distinct black line. Ascomata perithecia, 500-700 µm diam., globose or slightly oblate, often broadly elliptical in trabsverse section, the neck central or slightly eccentric, the peridium thin and hardly pigmented. Interascal tissue composed of sparse thin-walled evanescent paraphyses to 4.5 µm diam. Asci evanescent at the base and floating free within the fruit-body, 100-120 x 10-12.5 µm, narrlowly clavate, long-stalked, thin-walled, not fissitunicate, the apex rounded to truncate with a conspicuous refractive iodine-negative apical ring 3-3.5 µm diam. and 2-2.5 µm thick, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 20.5-22.5 (-24.5) x 5-6 (-6.5) µm, fusiform to fusiform-ellipsoidal, the apex acute and the base acute to obtuse, slightly constricted at the ± median septum, hyaline, thin-walled, smooth, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
