Anamorph: Phomopsis skimmiae Grove (1933). Conidiomata to 500 µm diam. Conidiogenous cells 10-18 µm long. Alpha-conidia 7-9 x 2-3 µm.
Teleomorph: stromata lacking an encircling black zone line. Ascomata 300-500 µm diam, densely scattered but almost evenly spread with minimal contact, immersed in the bark, later erumpent. Asci 40-50 x 8-9 µm, clavate. Ascospores 12-14 x 3 µm, oblong fusiform, scarcely constricted at the septum, 4-guttulate.
