Anamorph: Phomopsis perexigua (Sacc.) Traverso (1906). Conidiogenous cells 25-32 x 1 µm. Alpha-conidia 6-8 x 3 µm.
Teleomorph: stromata with host surface perforated by the ostioles, epidermis not discoloured, with a black zone line. Ascomata ca 200 µm diam., depressed-globose, gregarious or crowded together, ostioles cylindrical and slightly exceeding the host surface. Asci 40-50 x 7-8 µm. Ascospores 12 x 3-4 µm, cylindrical with rounded ends, eventually slightly constricted at the septum, 4-guttulate.
