Anamorph: Phomopsis moricola (Sacc.) Sacc. (1915). Conidiomata 180-330 µm diam. Conidiogenous cells 20-22 x 2 µm. Alpha-conidia 7-9 x 2-3.5 µm.
Teleomorph: stromata broadly effuse, with black zone lines in bark or wood, epidermis blackened mainly around the ostioles. Ascomata 180-200 µm diam., globose-conical, scattered singly or in groups of 3-4, immersed in the bark, ostioles short and obtuse. Asci 36-40 x 7 µm, clavate. Ascospores 10 x 3 µm (possibly longer), oblong with rounded ends, 4- to 5-guttulate, tardily septate, constricted at the septum.
