Anamorph: Phomopsis consocia (Sacc., E. Bommer & Roussel) Died. (1911). Conidiogenous cells ca 18 µm long. Alpha-conidia 6.5-8.5 x 3 µm; beta-conidia 20-25 x 1-1.5 µm.
Teleomorph: stromata on host as scattered compact pustules bordered by the broken epidermis, perithecia immersed in the cortex with the ostioles emergent, with an encircling black zone line. Ascomata globose, in clusters of 4-10, rarely solitary or in pairs, ostioles long, cylindrical, wrinkled, apically curved and divergent. Asci 48-64 x 9 µm. Ascospores 12-16 x 4.5-5 µm, cylindrical or fusiform, with rounded or shortly acute ends, slightly constricted, 4-guttulate.
