Anamorph: Phomopsis garryae Grove (1922). Conidiomata ca 200 µm diam. Conidiogenous cells 15-20 x 1.5 µm. Alpha-conidia 5.5-7 x 2-2.5 µm; intermediate conidia 15-17 x 1 µm; beta-conidia 25 x 1 µm.
Teleomorph: stromata with host epidermis blackened, later irregularly ruptured, often bounded by a thin black line. Ascomata sparse to subgregarious, immersed in the cortex. Asci ca 60 x 10 µm. Ascospores 12-14 x 3.5 µm, cylindric-fusiform, with sub-obtuse ends, only slightly constricted at the septum, 4-guttulate.
