SUMMARY
Description provided by Graham Kinsey, CABI, based on Wehmeyer (1933).
Anamorph: Phomopsis liriodendri Grove (1930). Conidiomata 200-400 µm diam. Conidiophores 15-20 µm long. Alpha-conidia 7-9 x 2 µm; beta-conidia 20 x 1 µm.
Teleomorph: stromata covered by the periderm, entostroma white-powdery and surrounded by a black zone-line, irregularly scattered. Ascomata globose, clustered in groups of 5-15, ostioles convergent. Asci 45-57 x 9-10 µm, clavate. Ascospores 12-15 x 4-5 µm, ellipsoidal with acute ends, constricted at the septa.
Although not seen by Wehmeyer, he considered this as probably a form of D. eres.
