SUMMARY
Description contributed by Graham Kinsey, CABI, based on Wehmeyer (1933).
Anamorph: Phomopsis pungens (Sacc.) Grove (1935). Conidiophores 10-13 x 1-2 µm. Alpha-conidia 6-10 x 2.5-3.5 µm.
Teleomorph: stromata on host surface as pustulate erumpent clusters of ostioles, dorsal zone irregularly present, ventral zone entire or often only laterally present. Ascomata tending to be clustered or thickly scattered, collectively erumpent, ostioles cylindrical and sometimes elongated. Ascospores 11-15 x 2.5-3.5 µm.
Wehmeyer considered this to belong to the D. eres aggregate. Only the anamorph is known from GB & I.
