SUMMARY

Cultures cultures floccose, white to greyish, margin smooth, µrial mycelium abundant, reverse colourless or pale brown with black blotches.
Anamorph: Phomopsis capsici (Magnaghi) Sacc. (1916). Conidiomata to 1.5 mm diam. Alpha-conidia 5.5-8 x 2-2.5 µm.
Teleomorph: Ascomata to 500 µm diam, scattered, solitary or aggregated, numerous, with prominent long necks to 1.5 mm long. Peridium composed of several layers of thin-walled cells which are brown to black on the outside and become yellow to hyaline on the inside. Asci 35-40 x 5-7 µm, subclavate to cylindrical. Ascospores 11-12 x 2.5-3 µm, ellipsoidal, not or slightly constricted at the septum, guttulate.
This species was not known to Wehmeyer. Typified by an isolate from material from the Tropical Plants Institute, London. In the absence of further source information it is uncertain whether or not this species is present in GB & I.
