Anamorph: Phomopsis brachyceras Grove (1935). Conidiomata 300-400 µm diam. Conidiophores 15-20 x 1.5 µm. Alpha-conidia 7-9 x 1.5-2 µm; beta-conidia 20-24 x 1 µm.
Teleomorph: Stromata on host surface as minute pustulate ruptures through which the ostioles are erumpent, surface of bark irregularly blackened mainly around the ostioles, ventral zone present deep in wood or along pith. Ascomata scattered singly or loosely grouped, ostioles erumpent singly or in small loose clusters. Ascospores 9-14 x 2.5-3.5 µm.
Wehmeyer considered this to belong within the D. eres aggregate.
