Dialonectria diatrypellicola  

Anamorph: Fusarium-like, only reported from culture.
Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, 350-420 µm diam., subglobose, superficial, not obviously stromatic but seated on a minute basal stroma, gregarious in groups of 3–20 (–50), collapsing laterally or not collapsing when dry, red, turning purple in KOH and yellow in lactic acid, finely roughened with some yellowish scurf. Apex obtusely rounded to discoid, concolorous but lacking scurf, made of a palisade of parallel vertically arranged cylindrical to clavate cells with orange walls. Basal stroma orange, 10–50 μm high. Peridium 35–60 μm thick, composed of an outer region 25–40 μm thick of globose or subglobose to ellipsoidal thick-walled cells, and an inner region 10–20 μm thick composed of hyaline flattened ± thin-walled cells. Interascal tissue of very broad and thin-walled paraphyses, ± evanescent at maturity. Asci 110–130 × 11–14 μm, cylindrical to slightly clavate, the apex obtuse without a clear subapical structure, 8-spored. Ascospores obliquely uniseriate or biseriate above and uniseriate below, (13–) 14–18 (–19) × 9–10 μm, ellipsoidal, rounded at the ends, 1-septate, hardly constricted at the septum, hyaline, becoming pale brownish yellow when mature, conspicuously warted.
