Teleomorph: Stromata absent. Ascomata 350-500µm diam, ± globose, ± black, ± glabrous, with a widely conical to cylindrical neck to 200µm in length. Peridium composed of several layers of rather large-celled mid brown textura angularis with cells to 18µm diam. Asci 295-335 x 30-38(-40)µm, cylindric to cylindric-saccate, short-stalked, thick-walled, 8-spored. Ascospores mostly arranged obliquely uniseriately but a proportion biseriately, 52.5-56 x 21.5-24.5µm, cylindric-fusiform, the ends obtuse to acute, hardly constricted at the median transverse septum, very thick-walled, each cell with two narrow longitudinal germ slits, with a clearly developed gelatinous sheath.
Ascospores are slightly larger than measurements given for D. patagonica by Luck-Allen & Cain (1975), and the species seems very similar to GB collections of D. furfuracea examined, with a proportion of ascospores arranged biseriately within the ascus.
