Family: DelitschiaceaeGenus: Delitschia
SUMMARY
Anamorph: unknown.
Teleomorph: Stromata absent. Ascomata 350-500µm diam, ± globose, ± black, ± glabrous, with a widely conical to cylindrical neck to 200µm in length. Peridium composed of several layers of rather large-celled mid brown textura angularis with cells to 18µm diam. Asci 180-230 (-260) x (20-)30-48 µm, cylindrical to cylindric-saccate, short-stalked, thick-walled, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged obliquely uniseriately or biseriately, (38-) 41-47 x 17.5-20.5 µm ((40-) 42-55 x 16-21 µm fide Luck-Allen & Cain 1975), cylindric-fusiform, the ends obtuse to acute, hardly constricted at the median transverse septum, very thick-walled, each cell with two narrow longitudinal germ slits, with a clearly developed gelatinous sheath.
Material examined from Glamorgan has somewhat larger ascospores (52.5-56 x 21.5-24.5µm), and could be misidentified for D. furfuracea.
