SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, 180-250 µm diam., erumpent from dead stems, turbinate, sessile or shortly stalked, glossy black, with a distinctly raised excipular margin and a sunken hymenial disc. Outer layer of excipular cells irregular in form, mostly 7-10 m diam., mid brown, quite thick-walled. Interascal tissue composed of narrow branched and anastomosed pseudoparaphyses 1.5-2 µm diam. Asci 75-85 x 24-28 µm, clavate with a short tapering stalk, the apex rounded, thick-walled and fissitunicate, covered with a very thick gelatinous coat, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 22-29.5 x 8-10 µm, rather variable in shape, mostly clavate to fusiform, (1- or 2-) 3-septate, hardly to distinctly constricted at the septa, mid to dark olivaceous brown, strongly guttulate, smooth, fairly thick-walled, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
