Family: DacampiaceaeGenus: Dacampia
SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascostromata scattered on the thallus surface, especially at the margins; perithecia, 100-140 µm diam. (ca 250 µm diam. fide Hawksworth 1975), erumpent and becoming almost superficial, black, globose, the ostiole inconspicuous and lined with short dark brown obtuse-ended hyphae. Peridium composed of several layers of dark brown thick-walled angular cells to 6 µm diam., in the upper part with an outer layer of amorphous melanized material that cracks into irregular areole-like structures. Interascal tissue composed of branched pseudoparaphyses 1.5-2 µm diam., tending to break down at maturity. Asci 40-45 x 19-22 µm (extending to 55-60 µm), saccate, the apex slightly attenuated, almost sessile, thick-walled and fissitunicate with rostrate dehiscence, with a broad ocular chamber, not staining in iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged irregularly, 20-22.5 x 5-6.5 µm, cylindric-clavate, the apices rounded, with seven transverse septa and oblique longitudinal divisions in 2-4 of the segments, golden brown, quite thin-walled, smooth, without an epispore or gelatinous sheath.
