Anamorph: conidiomata absent. Conidiophores clearly differentiated from vegetative hyphae, arising in clumps from the host stomata; erect, straight to somewhat flexuous, cylindrical, with a single apical or sometimes several swellings, rarely branched, 110–130 × 5-6.5 μm, swellings 6-7.5 μm broad; multiseptate, brown or olivaceous-brown, sometimes somewhat paler at the apices, smooth, fairly thick-walled. Conidiogenous cells not differentiated from the conidiophores. Conidiogenous loci terminal or lateral, 1-3 per cell, conspicuous, protuberant, 1.5–2 (-2.5) μm diam, somewhat thickened and darkened-refractive. Conidia probably in branched chains but none observed, 14-19x 7-8 µm (somewhat smaller when aseptate), cylindrical to ellipsoidal, many 3-septate but some aseptate or 1-septate, pale brown to olivaceous, fairly thick-walled, the septa thinner, verruculose. Teleomorph: Davidiella sp. See also under Mycosphaerella equiseticola.
