SUMMARY
Stroma absent.
Ascomata 200-350µm, the body globose to pyriform, immersed, mid brown to almost completely hyaline, with a long cylindrical ± hyaline neck 300-1000µm in length and 60-80µm diam, which is easily detached. Peridium composed of several layers of rather small-celled textura angularis, merrging into textura intricata in the neck region. Interascal tissue not seen, but periphyses well-developed. Asci 130-154 x 8-9.5µm, cylindrical, fairly thin-walled, with a short narrow stalk, the apex obtuse to truncate, with a conspicuous apical ring ca 3µm diam, 8-spored. Ascospores usually arranged uniseriately, 18-21 x 5-6µm, fusiform, the ends usually acute, often slightly curved, thin-walled, hyaline, aseptate (apparently sometimes becoming 1- to 3-septate), guttulate, the wall occasionally slightly roughened, without a gelatinous sheath.
