Candelariella superdistans  

Thallus crustose, granular, areolate or continuous, grey to black but most often inapparent. Lichenicolous on the thallus and apothecia of Lecanora populicola. 

Anamorph: not known.

Teleomorph: ascomata apothecial. Apothecia small 0.2-0.8 mm diam., yellow, scattered, lecanorine with flat to convex disc, margins eventually excluded. Thalline margin prosoplectenchymatous with protruding hyphae. Hymenium 50-60 µm high. Paraphyses with swollen tips. Asci 8-spored. Ascospores 16-22 × 5-7 µm.
