SUMMARY
Stromata: a rather indistinct hypostroma consisting of a discoid plate of subcuticular hyphae.
Ascomata thyriothecia, to 0.25 mm long, predominantly linear but occasionally Y- or V-shaped, scattered to gregarious, thyriothecioid, blackish, smooth, superficial. Peridium consisting of a scutellum of fused interwoven hyphae with thick brown walls. Interascal tissue absent. Asci 20-28 x 7-10 µm, subglobose to broadly cylindric or clavate, sessile, thick-walled, I-, 8-spored, arising in abundance beneath the scutellum. Ascospores 12-15 x 2-2.5 µm, narrowly ellipsoidal, hyaline to faint yellow-brown, smooth, 1-septate, constricted at the septum, one cell more rounded than the other.
