Anamorph: not known. Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, 180-220 µm diam., hypogenous, scattered, immersed beneath a small well-defined black clypeus, the ostiole minutely papillate. Interascal tissue composed of thin-walled paraphyses, breaking down at maturity. Asci 80-94 x 4.5-5.5 µm, cylindrical, the stalk fairly long and gradually tapering, the apex rounded, thin-walled and not fissitunicate, with an inconspicuous blue-staining apical ring ca 1.5 µm diam. and 2 µm thick, 8-spored. Ascospores two-celled, surrounded by a thin gelatinous sheath when young; the upper cell 7.2-7.8 x 3.5-4 x 3-3.5 µm, fusiform-ellipsoidal to cymbiform, somewhat inaequilateral, the apex acute and the base obtuse, dark brown, the germ slit absent or inconspicuous; the lower cell 1.5-1.8 µm long and 1.2-1.4 µm diam, shortly cylindrical with the base rounded, hyaline, thin-walled.
