SUMMARY
Thallus very thin, inconspicuous, effuse, forming a pale pinkish area on bark, white when dry, not corticate. Prothallus not differentiated. Photobiont Trentepohlia-like, with pale brown perpendicular filaments 7–14 µm diam. with rounded apical cells.
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, 50-80 (-100) µm diam., sessile, globose, black, the ostiole inconspicuous, the surface covered with black hairs to 40 µm long and 2.5-3 µm diam. Interascal tissue absent at maturity, but degenerated hyphae present between the asci. Asci (25-) 30–41 x 10–14·5 µm, pyriform, thick-walled and fissitunicate, not blueing in iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 13–16 x 3-4 µm, clavate, the upper cell slightly shorter and distinctly broader than lower cell, the apex obtuse and the base acute, hyaline, 1-septate, smooth, without an epispore or gelatinous sheath.
Chemistry: lichen products not detected by TLC.
