SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascostromata hysterothecial, (300-) 400-1100 x 200-350 µm, 100-150 µm tall, superficial, elliptical to cylindrical in outline, the ends often acute, strongly aggregated, occasionally coalescing to form multiloculate structures, matt to gloss black, without a distinct subiculum or basal stroma, the opening an inconspicuous slit that runs the entire length of the ascostroma. Ascomatal wall carbonaceous, surface ± smooth, composed of small pseudoparenchymatous cells, wall tissues not producing KOH extractable pigments. Interascal tissue of numerous cellular pseudoparaphyses 2–3 μm diam., septate, branching and anastomosing above the asci. Asci formed from an elongate centrum, 60-75 x 5-6 µm, cylindrical, short-stalked, thick-walled and fissitunicate, the apex rounded with a well-defined ocular chamber, 8-spored. Ascospores irregularly uniseriate, 6-8 x 2.5-3 µm, ellipsoidal-fusiform with the apex rounded and the base obtuse, constricted at the single ± median septum, lower cell usually slightly narrower, hyaline, thin-walled, smooth, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
