SUMMARY
Anamorph: Helicosporium aureum (fide Réblová & Barr 2000).
Teleomorph. Ascostromata perithecial, scattered or in clusters, 150-250 µm diam., flattened globose to globose-conical, brown to purplish brown, strongly and densely setose, not collapsing when dry. Setae 55-80 µm long, 5-6 µm diam. in the mid portion, 7-9.5 µm diam. at the expanded base, straight or slightly curved, thick-walled, dark brown to black, opaque, aseptate, acute-tipped, gradually tapering. Ascomatal wall 25-35 µm thick, composed of mid brown, rounded to angular thick-walled cells to ca 9 µm diam. Interascal tissue of cellular pseudoparaphyses, numerous, branching and anastomosing, 1.5-2.5 µm diam. Asci (75-) 85-110 (-125) x 15-18 (-22) µm, cylindric-clavate, thick-walled and fissitunicate, broadly rounded and thickened at the apex, short-stipitate, 8-spored. - Ascospores arranged in a fascicle, (55-) 62-73 (-80) x 4-4.5 µm, cylindric-fusiform to almost filiform, tapering and acute to narrowly rounded at both ends, often bent or slightly curved in the lower third, 10- to 14-septate, not constricted at the septa, hyaline, thin-walled, smooth, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
