Thallus thin, inconspicuous, pale grey, ± shiny, overgrowing moribund bryophytes.
Anamorph: of long, slender, mostly dark brown hyphophores, 1-1.8 mm tall. Tips of hyphophores often slightly broadened and curved over, with a white, tear-drop-like conidial mass, producing colourless, filiform, multiseptated conidia (diahyphae), (60-)100-140 × c. 1.5 µm, with cells 5-9 µm long.
Teleomorph: not known.
In GB&I known only from St Kilda, VC 110, Outer Hebrides (as of June 2017).
The British material growing on moribund bryophytes, on turf near a cliff edge, on a boulder and on a bank in moorland.
