Puccinia virgae-aureae
Colonies developing on rounded yellowish or purple spots that can be black-centred.
Spermogonia, aecia and uredinia unknown.
Telia epiphyllous and hypophyllous, minute, often strongly clustered and sometimes forming dendritic patterns, compact, domed to hemispherical, shining black. Teliospores 30-56 x 12-20 µm, ellipsoidal, clavate or fusiform, the apex often acute, golden to mid brown, 1-septate, hardly constricted, the wall smooth, to 12 µm thick and paler at the apex. Pedicelsabout half the length of the spore, ± hyaline.
Not formally assessed for GB, but assessed as Critically Endangered (D2) for Wales by Woods et al. (2015). There are few recent British records, though they are widely scattered.

In GB&I, recent reports from VC2 E Cornwall, VC4 N Devon, VC13 W Sussex, VC44 Carmarthen, VC49 Caernarvon, VC97 W Inverness, VC104 N Ebudes and VC112 Shetland; also reported from Ireland (VCW23 W Cork).
