Anamorph: conidiomata pycnidia, ca 70 µm diam., globose, the wall brown, 10-15 µm thick, similar in structure to the ascomata. Conidiogenous cells ca 7.5 x 3 µm, flask-shaped, proliferating percurrently. Conidia 3-5 x ca 1 µm, ± cylindrical, hyaline. Teleomorph: stromata absent. Ascomata 75-100(-125) µm diam., globose, black, immersed in clusters in small galls of the host lichen. Peridium dark brown in the apical region, paler and yellowish below, 10-20 (-25) µm thick, composed of 4-7 layers of globose thick-walled cells 2.5-3.5 (-4.5) µm in size. Interascal tissue composed of copiously branched and anastomosed pseudoparaphyses 1-2 µm in diam. Asci (45-) 50-70 x 8-12 µm, cylindrical to cylindric-clavate, short-stalked, fissitunicate, (6-) 8-spored. Ascospores 11-14.5 (-16) x 3.5-5.5 µm, ellipsoidal to clavate, with a single ± median septum, the upper cell ± ellipsoidal and the lower cell narrower and tapering, hyaline to pale brown, smooth, thin-walled, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
