Anamorph: not known. Teleomorph: stromata absent. Ascomata 150-220 µm diam. and 150-250 µm tall, globose to broadly pyriform, pale yellow-brown, sessile, scattered, the entire wall covered with glassy hairs. Ostiole inconspicuous. Peridium composed of thin-walled angular cells 4-7 µm diam. Ascomatal hairs (37-)45-65 µm long, 3-4 µm diam. at the base and 2-2.5 µm at the apex, gradually tapering over their entire length, the apex obtuse, occasionally branched, very thick-walled with the lumina almost absent, apparently aseptate apart from at branch nodes. Interascal tissue composed of a complex network of copiously branched and anastomosed pseudoparaphyses ca 1.5 µm diam. Asci 135-150 x 11.5-12.5 µm, cylindrical, short-stalked, the base tapered, croziers present; the apex rounded; thick-walled and fissitunicate, the apical part very thick-walled with an inconspicuous ocular chamber, no visible apical ring, not staining in iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores fasciculate and helically arranged, 145-165 x 2-2.5 µm, filiform, the apex obtuse and the basal part gradually tapering, up to at least 25-septate, thin-walled, hyaline, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
