Anamorph: not known. Teleomorph: ascomata 200–300 μm high and 150–200 μm diam., at first cleistothecial and globose to barrel-shaped, becoming apothecial and deeply cupulate, very reduced, containing a single ascus. Peridium pale yellow, very thin, membranous, not dextrinoid, composed of two layers of thin–walled polygonal cells 8–15 × 5–10 μm, with 5-10 pale setae arising from the lower to middle part part. Setae 125-350 × 4-10 μm (at their base), superficial, acicular, straight or slightly curved, roots hardly developed, pale yellowish, not dextrinoid, with up to 12 septa, thick-walled (1–2 μm). Interascal tissue of abundant paraphyses 2.5–3 μm diam., much shorter than the ascus, not or slightly enlarged at the apex, simple or branched at some level, hyaline, septate. Ascus 150-210 × 120-165 μm, pyriform, extending well beyond the peridium, ± thick-walled but not fissitunicate, sessile, with a rounded apex that dehisces with a split, not blueing in iodine, multi-spored (>1000). Ascospores 9-10 × 8.5-9.5 μm, globose to subglobose, aseptate, smooth, hyaline or very pale yellow, thin-walled, oil drops and de Bary bubbles absent, lacking a gelatinous sheath or perispore.
