Spermogonia 150-200 µm diam., epiphyllous, on reddish spots, subcuticular, pustular, large, prominent. Aecia epiphyllous, on pale yellow spots surrounding the spermogonia, irregularly elongate and often confluent into rings, orange-yellow. Aeciospores 19-23 x 18-20 µm, globose to obovoid, the wall colourless 2-2.5 µm thick, closely verrucose, pores obscure. Uredinia usually hypophyllous, sometimes on the petioles or caulicolous, scattered, pulverulent, on pale golden-yellow spots, without paraphyses, on the leaf usually minute and often covering the whole surface, surrounded by the ruptured epidermis. Urediniospores 21-27 (-32) x 16-19 (-25) µm, ellipsoidal to obovoid, the wall nearly colourless, 1.5-2 µm thick, finely and closely verrucose-echinulate, pores indistinct, probably 3-4, equatorial. Telia hypophyllous, scattered, isolated or in roundish groups but never conf[uent, 0.1-0.5 mm diam., pulvinate, yellowish or whitish. Teliospores in clavate or elongate-cuneate chains (usually 5-7 in length) which are straight or slightly curved, 40-120 µm long, individual teliospores obtusely cuneate or ovoid-ellipsoidal, often trapezoidal, 17-30 µm long and 17-24 µm diam. (but sometimes wider than long), with colourless smooth walls, the side walls becoming thicker from below upwards, the lower transverse wall thin and the upper thicker with irregular undulations or projections, the terminal spore of each chain with a thick upper transverse wall undulate or with finger-like projections; the pore in lower cells on a short lateral projection, pore of terminal spore apical; each chain with a short thin-walled basal cell.
